Harmon, Curran, Spielberg & Eisernberg, LLP
Election season is upon us. This webinar will address the specific kinds of election-related activities and events that organizations exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code may undertake without jeopardizing their exempt status. Rules applicable to other types of tax-exempt organizations, such as 501(c)(4) organizations and 527 organizations, will also be discussed. Particular questions to be answered include:
- “Are we allowed to urge our members and supporters to vote?”
- “Can we hold a voter registration drive without risking our exemption?”
- “Will we get in trouble if we allow a political group to meet at the Center?”
- “Are we allowed to publish a voter guide on issues important to the LGBT community?”
- “Can our Executive Director endorse and campaign for a candidate without getting the Center in trouble?”

IGLTA & CenterLink - A Growing Global Partnership
The International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association is the leading member-based global organization dedicated to LGBT tourism. We engage small companies and major corporations in 89 countries — from destinations to accommodations, travel agents to tour operators, transportation to travel media — and assist them in their outreach to LGBT travelers. As we approach our 30th anniversary, IGLTA is making a historic step with the official introduction of a business to consumer outreach program to complement our respected business to business operation. Starting with a virtual launch in March 2012, our expansive consumer outreach initiative will create a new level of membership for the individual to help further engage with our existing business members.
In conjunction with the launch of this consumer initiative, IGLTA has formed an organizational partnership with CenterLink that will create a comprehensive cross-promotional marketing campaign to educate the growing global communities of both organizational missions and opportunities. Please join Deborah Sas, VP of Marketing, as she explains the newly formed partnership and visibility platform for CenterLink and it's esteemed members through the new IGLTA.
