YouthLink is a new program at CenterLink that is working to bring a stronger youth voice to policy issues at the national level while also providing support and technical assistance to Centers in the CenterLink membership network.
YouthLink supports LGBT Center directors, youth program directors and youth programming staff by providing technical assistance, training, and resource sharing to LGBT youth centers; providing an online resource portal of program examples, policies, procedures and funding (launching in Sept. 2013); and bringing increased national attention to the issues facing LGBT youth by giving youth leaders the opportunity to gather, discuss the issues most important to them, develop a national policy agenda and coordinate with national advocacy organizations to incorporate the agenda into their policy strategies.
YouthLink at Creating Change 2014
In 2014, at Creating Change in Houston, TX, YouthLink will host a Town Hall on Federal Policy, bringing together LGBT youth to discuss and determine the federal priorities for LGBT youth advocacy. Attendees will leave the meeting with a draft policy agenda that CenterLink will present to national advocacy organizations for consideration to inclusion in their own policy agendas. This institute is primarily for youth 23 and under. Organizational staff serving youth and national organizations with an interest in youth advocacy should contact CenterLink before attending.
